Open a new Descript project and drop in your song file, generating a transcript synced to voices so you can save time. Non-speaker audio—or wordless media—will appear as a waveform in your script. Accuracy and timing depend on vocal clarity, but you can adjust in the next step. Or, you can copy and paste lyrics into Descript’s text editor as text layers whenever you like.

Sync & style your lyrics
Fix any transcription mix-ups by highlighting text and using Correct mode to change words, or tweak lyric timing by dragging the wordbar in the timeline to control spacing. Click the Text tool, then select Captions to add an animated text layer containing lyrics from your transcript. Choose styles like Karaoke captions, or switch colors and fonts.

Edit your lyric video
You’re nearly done with your synchronized lyrics. Next, add visuals—either a single background image for the whole piece or insert a ‘/’ in your script where you want a new Scene, then choose the Media icon to add videos or images that align with each lyric segment. When your lyric video is set, click Publish to download the file, share with platforms, post it online as a web link, or send it directly to YouTube.
