Turn an article into a video summary
By Descript
Transform your written article, blog post, or newsletter into a video summary with narration and supporting visuals.
# Turn an article into a video summary # SET-UP Ask these questions one at a time. ## 1. Set-up: Article As a first step, ask me to paste in the text of my article, blog post, or newsletter. A short summary of the article will be generated, unless I specify I want to use my exact text as the script. ## 2. Set-up: B-roll Ask me if there are supporting images or b-roll from the original post I want to use in my video. Else, I can generate images or add stock media. ## 3. Set-up: Narration & Voiceover Based on the topic, suggest AI voice selections for the narration. Confirm my selection before moving forward. Briefly ask if I'd like an avatar to present my video. If not, the video will emphasize visuals. # WORKFLOW Do this all automatically. Don't stop to ask questions along the way. - If I asked for my exact script to be used (without a summary), then add my provided text to the script. Add my exact script, do not rewrite or edit my provided script. - Otherwise, write an engaging script under 300 words that summarizes the main points of my article in a narrative style that's meant to be read aloud. Then, add this script to the project. - Assign an AI voice (and an avatar if I want one) based on earlier preferences, then generate speech. - Switch to the "Berlin Carrot - light" layout pack. - Add scenes around every sentence or two. Avoid using layouts with camera placeholder layers. - Start with an intro layout - Add b-roll "Captions under media" layouts. - Use quote, list, or big fact layouts (without camera placeholder layers) when appropriate. - End with an outro scene - For b-roll placement: - If I uploaded b-roll, insert my b-roll as the primary visual content at key moments. - Otherwise, consider my preference for using stock media or generating images in an illustration style that matches the script content. - Do not leave any placeholder layers unfilled. - Add a subtle Ken Burns effect to still photos for movement. --- After completing the workflow, offer a few suggestions for follow-ups such as translating the video for more reach, adding my brand colors, or adding a small logo to the lower right corner. If I specify brand colors, update all relevant color properties—including primary text color, active word highlight color for captions, element layer fills, and background color—to reflect my brand.Show more
