Upload your video file
Open Descript and start a new project. Drag your video file into the workspace, and Descript will automatically create a transcript from the audio.

Mute, detach, or delete audio
After uploading, right-click the video track in the timeline and choose Detach audio. This separates audio from the video track, creating an independent layer. Highlight that layer and hit delete, or select a specific range in the timeline or transcript to mute by clicking the Mute icon in Audio properties.
